About Life Church

Life Church is a collective of passionate people who orient their lives around the person and work of Jesus Christ. We are an evangelical Church affiliated with the Australian Christian Churches (ACC) in South Australia.

If you are new to Life Church, here we hope to provide you with things that define our beliefs and practices.

We love our town and our region, and actively seek its wellbeing by endeavouring to live out gospel principles of redemption and renewal in our community. Jesus conveyed the good news of the gospel to his disciples and commissioned them to carry that work forward. We take that call seriously, seeking to be a church of disciples that go on to make disciples. We desire to be a living picture of Christ’s love, forgiveness and encouragement.

To get to know us, you can read more about what drives us below, or come along to one of our Sunday services. There are also some other ways to get connected here.

Our Vision

To be at the epicentre of a fulfilling and meaningful community in Tumby Bay and surrounds; for the glory of God and the joy of all people.

Our Mission

Life Church exists to bless our community and help people in following Jesus Christ; for the glory of God and the joy found in Him.

Our Core Rhythms

Our core rhythms are a simple way to live out the day-to-day as a disciple of Jesus. Coined by Missiologist Mike Frost, these core rhythms follow the acronym “BELLS”, and makeup what is known as the ‘5 Habits of Highly Missional People’. These are:

Bless – Bless three people this week, at least one of whom is not a member of your church.
Eat – Eat with three people this week, at least one of whom is not a member of your church.
Listen – Spend at least one period of the week listening for the Spirit’s voice.
Learn – Spend at least one period of the week learning Christ.
Sent – Write down the ways that God sent you this week.

“Faith isn’t an act, a single choice, or just a belief system. Faith is a habit. The five missional habits in Surprise the World will re-energise you, replenish your reserves, and connect you to Jesus. You will become generous, hospitable, Spirit-led, more Christlike, and you will increasingly see yourself as a sent one-a missionary right where you are. The consequence of living these five habits is that others will invite you to proclaim the reign of God. It’s that simple and that good.” – Mike Frost

At Life Church, being an active part of the community means a simple, honest commitment to these rhythms.

  • We Bless people, both inside and outside the church.
  • We Eat together, sharing meals with believers and nonbelievers alike.
  • We Listen to the guidance and direction of the Holy Spirit as we engage with those around us.
  • We intimately Learn Christ as our leader and model for making disciples.
  • We see ourselves as Sent by God to everywhere life takes us.

Basic Beliefs

These basic doctrines within the Life Church Statement of Faith represent what we believe to be core elements of biblical teaching.

Doctrine of God
We believe in one God eternally existing as one essence and three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit, each of whom is fully God, yet there is one God.

Doctrine of Revelation
God has made Himself known to the world in Jesus Christ, the Scriptures and creation.

Doctrine of Creation and Providence
We believe that God created the world from nothing and governs all things at all times in all places.

Doctrine of Humanity
We believe that all humanity is created in the image of God and possesses intrinsic dignity and worth.

Doctrine of Sin
We believe that sin has fractured all things, leaving the world in desperate need of salvation.

Doctrine of Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone.

Doctrine of the Church
We believe that the Church is the body of Christ sent into the world to shine forth the glory of God.

Doctrine of Resurrection and Consummation of the Kingdom of God
We believe that Jesus Christ is returning to the world in the future to judge the living and the dead.
